Protein design and manufacture
We design functional molecular changes to proteins, or insert bioactive motifs of interest. One example would be fibronectin, collagen or laminin motif insertion for mammalian or stem cell studies. We have particular expertise in beta-barrel membrane proteins which are used to create functional surfaces on biosensors, diagnostic devices, analytical biochips (for SPR, QCM etc) and mammalian cell growth surfaces.
To do this, as well as protein design, we have in-house systems for efficient protein expression, production and purification during the manufacturing process.
If you want, we will then just send the protein product to you. Or we will use it to do R&D, product development, optimisation and testing/analysis on your behalf. We produce recombinant, engineered and purified proteins for applications that include:
- Antigen presentation for antibody production
- Functional Studies - biochemical and enzymatic assays
- HTS assays - Drug discovery
- Protein-Protein interactions
- Protein-ligand interactions
- Structural studies
- Therapeutic applications
Our in-house technology ensures high-yield expression in E.coli cultures. It is rapid and cost-effective – and backed by deep expertise at all levels of the protein manufacturing process, including:
- Cloning/Protein engineering
- Over-expression in E.coli
- Production of inclusion bodies
- Production of soluble protein
- Purification – A wide choice of methods: IMAC, IEX etc.
- Refolding
- CD Spectroscopy / MALDI ToF analysis
